[SIPForum-discussion] Require 100rel?

Hello,

You are right about that, but you can still limit the customers from
using 100rel. In many (most?) cases still the calls are terminating in a
PSTN gateway and in that case the other endpoint is service provider
equipment.

If we look at it in another way. I have an IP-PBX that require 100rel
support for some PBX features. In this case the IP-PBX is sending
Require 100rel on the SIP trunk. We (as trunk provider) could of course
activate support for 100rel in our equipment towards PSTN, but what
about all the endpoints for pure IP calls? If they don't support 100rel
these calls from the IP-PBX will of course fail. (bad extension).

What do you think?

/Jimmy

Hello Jimmy

Is it common that SIP Trunk providers have support for 100rel/prack?

Ans: its not depend on SIP Trunk that have support of 100 rel or not.
its depend on the Endpoint and If endpoint support the 100rel then
endppint send support header into invite message and if other end point
support 100rel the send you the require header with 100rel.

Thanks

As we are moving towards more SIP Interconnects between operators it's
the endpoints that should have this support. Is it realistic to have
100rel as a required extension in this case? I'm thinking of all the
lousy endpoints out there... they should all have proper support for
100rel then.

What is your opinion?

Thanks,

Jimmy
