pcap is an abbreviation of Packet Capturing. There are utilities available
like wireshark, jpcap, and etc.. where you can capture the TCP/IP packets
and can be analyzed. The captured file will store as pcap and it can open
via Wireshark.

Wireshark is GUI based, and if you are using Linux, by default pcap utility
will be there, you can run using CLI mode and store as pcap file which can
be open via Wireshark.
