[SIPForum-discussion] REFER and conferencing with SIP

Hi All,

I have three questions related to SIP transactions

1) When a SIP REFER is sent from one UA1 to UA2, UA1 is automatically
subscribed to the events UA2 related to the method included within the
REFER request. But if the transfer target is a conference server, UA1 is
not automatically subscribed to the conference events related to UA2, is
that right? UA1 would still have to send a SUBSCRIBE to the conference
focus?

2) In SIP transactions, is it possible to handle many transactions in
parallel? For example, during the INVITE procedure from UA1 to UA2, is it
possible for UA1 to respond to an incoming INVITE, or does it have to wait
to send out the final ACK? For REFER method, can UA1 handle an incoming
invite when the OK is sent after receiving NOTIFY?

3) Is a non-originator of a conference allowed to REFER another UA without
using conference cascading?

Thanks
