[SIPForum-discussion] Media format in SDP

Dear All

can anybody explain me what the actual emaning of media format in media
atrribute (a) field in SDP.If we can see ethreal trace it mention line is
like below,

Media Format: 18
or
Media Format: 18 [(null)]

what is the diffrence between these 2 fields and how it impact on codec
negotiation or connected call.
