Subject: [SIPForum-discussion] Reg : Issue with 40 min call
disconnection

Hi All,

I have come across one issue wherein the sip call gets disconnected
within 40 minutes from the destination end. Also found that the issue
was due to no session expiry parameter was set in the originating
device.

Kindly clarify

1. If the originating device has no settings ( fields ) for minimum
session expiry then will the SBC automatically refresh the session.

[Srinivas]: I think if the SBC is acting as B2BUA, and supports timer
mechanism, it can refresh the session. There may be some configuration
on SBC.

2. If 3600 is the session expiry time then at what time the re-invite
should generate to refresh the session and which end should generate the
re-invite ( Source or destination ).

[Srinivas]: If Session expiry is 3600, then re-invite should go before
the timer expires, u can refresh at any time before expiry of 3600
timer. When your initially negotiated with the far-end the Session
expires Header will have the information about the refresher.

The syntax of the Session-Expires header field is as follows:

   Session-Expires = ("Session-Expires" / "x") HCOLON delta-seconds
                        *(SEMI se-params)
   se-params = refresher-param / generic-param
   refresher-param = "refresher" EQUAL ("uas" / "uac")

3. Is the session expiry and min session expiry settings is mandatory on
a sip call.

[Srinivas]: If the Required header in INVITE has timer, then session
expiry and min session expiry is mandatory. If the Supported header in
the INVITE has timer, then session expiry and min session expiry is
Optional.

Kindly clarify the above points

Thanks

Sathya.
