[SIPForum-discussion] time between INVITE and 180 Ringing

Hello Manoj,

As server is in client transaction and when it receives 100 trying response from UA, it is moving into the proceeding state as per the INVITE client transaction state machine.
I think, the timeout value is 64*T1 and default value of T1 is 500ms.
So the timeout value should be 32 seconds.
This value is variable as per timer T1 configured in the server.

Note: All above timers are active when UDP is used.

Thanks
-Sumeet

Subject: [SIPForum-discussion] time between INVITE and 180 Ringing

Dear All,

What is the acceptable time duration between an INVITE and 180 Ringing message to declare a timeout?

I have a SIP UA, which sometimes delays replying 180 when it receives an INVITE. It sends a 100 trying message and take sometime to send 180 Ringing. Server waits for few seconds and sends a CANCEL message, while sending a time out message to the calling party.

Your valuable comments are highly appreciated

Thanks
BR,
Manoj
