Hi DD,

Diversion header is added when a proxy, redirect server and UA changes the end  destination which will receive the call.

The basic call flow of Diversion is as follows. This example shows the details for a single Diversion header.

                     +------------------------+
                     | Bob at P2: CFUNC->Carol at C |
                     +------+-----------------+
                             \
                              \
A             P1              P2            B          C
                            recursing
|              |              |             |          |
|--INV Bob at P1->|              |             |          |
|              |              |             |          |
|              |--INV Bob at P2->|             |          |
|              |              |             |          |
|              |              |--INVITE Carol at C------->|
|              |              |  Diversion: Bob at P2     |
|              |              |    ;reason=unconditional
|              |              |             |          |
|              |              |<-200-------------------|
|              |              |             |          |
|              |<-200---------|             |          |
|              |              |             |          |
|<-200---------|              |             |          |
|              |              |             |          |
|--ACK------------------------------------------------>|
|              |              |             |          |
|              |              |             |          |Multiple Diversion header:
In case of multiple diversion header scenario the URI present in the top most diversion header is used as the Diverting number(Called  Number) and the URI of the bottom most Diversion header is nothing but the original called number.

There is a draft which details the Diversion header you can refer to that for more clarification.
"draft-levy-sip-diversion-08.txt" .

Hope this will help you to understand the basics of single and multiple diversion. By the way
which SIP stack you are using.
Regards,
Sandeep

Hello

We had an issue where the system having the SIP stack is crashing,
when the multiple diversion header is set in the SIP header. Can you
please help me understanding what do we mean by setting multiple
diversion in the sip header?
