Contact header field is mandatory in INVITEs and 2xx final responses, it is used along with any Record-Route headers to establish the route-set to be used throughout the dialogue. The list of required/optional fields and the messages they can used in appears in RFC3261 section 20 Table 2: Summary of header fields A--O and Table 3: Summary of header fields P--Z. Hope this helps

Stew

Hi,

Thanks for your email & I do NOT think that's correct.
Contact header is not a mandatory field.

I believe the mandatory fields are,
1. To
2. From
3. CSeq
4. Call-ID
5. Max forwards
6. Via

I think
this will solve your confusion.

Entries marked "m" are mandatory, those
