Hi Thomas, Mike...

For any phone (in our case, SIP phone) to speak out to an IP phone, this
phone has to be registered somewhere. I am not 100% clear in drawing the
picture what would happen if a VoIP gateway in placed in b/w. The job of
Voice Gateway would be to provide some initial greetings or routing the
call to an IP (which is our IP phone here, the IP of whose we know
already); but; if someone wants to speak with the user on this phone, then,
I understand that the phone has to be registered to something. This can be
any gatekeeper, but, there has to be a gatekeeper which can pass the
signalling onto this phone for the phone to ring and eventually answer.
For any two phones across anywhere to speak with each other (be it a SIP or
an IP phone), these phones must be registered.. Let me know if I am
incorrect...

Regards,
Rudra
