Thanks for the clarification.

Which ITU spec says Profile A is for IMS and B for SIP to ISUP translation, because I went through Q 1912.5, cant see anywhere about IMS, may be I have missed it in this spec.

Can you please point me to exact Spec?

Raghul

Raghul,

Yes - Profiles A and B differ because IMS (Profile B>>A<<) had specific requirements

Thanks Jim,

>>Profile A was intended to align with interworking with an IMS network. The interworking closely aligned with 3GPP TS 29.163

So Profile A is for 3GPP network.
and Profile B is for IETF SIP to ISUP

>>Profiles A and B differ because IMS (Profile B) had specific requirements

Did you mean IMS (Profile A) in the above sentence, was that a typo? or Have I not understood you?

Raghul

Raghul,

Profile A was intended to align with interworking with an IMS network. The interworking closely aligned with 3GPP TS 29.163 at the time it was written (8 years ago).
Profile B is used for signaling toward a generic IETF based SIP network.
Profile C for SIP-I.

Profiles A and B differ because IMS (Profile B) had specific requirements, where it was left more open ended for Profile B.

Jim

Hello All,

ITU Q 1912.5 talks about 3 SIP profiles A, B and C.

I understand Profile C is SIP - I, what is SIP profle A and B please?

I believe they talk about mapping of ISUP messages to SIP, if yes, why 2 profiles for the same purpose?

Thanks,
Raghul
