 Hi Michel,

From my experience, you will be able to make any calls from your 1st phone to your second phone.

I am not sure if you are using a SIP SOFT PHONE.

Incase of sip hard phones ,if you are not able to type in the complete SIP URL, your call will not work.

If your Registrar sever (Which is also acting as a DNS server or a separate DNS Server) is ENUM capable, it may work out to resolve the IP Address and your call should succeed.

Thanks and Regards,
Anitha

It might be possible if the IP phone allows you to manually enter the URI of the end point you are dialing. I have an experience of doing this with a soft IP phone, unfortunately I forgot the name of the phone. Most of the proxies have settings to enable guest calls.

I am not 100% clear in drawing the picture what would happen if a VoIP gateway in placed in b/w. The job of Voice Gateway would be to provide some initial greetings or routing the call to an IP (which is our IP phone here, the IP of whose we know already); but; if someone wants to speak with the user on this phone, then, I understand that the phone has to be registered to something. This can be any gatekeeper, but, there has to be a gatekeeper which can pass the signalling onto this phone for the phone to ring and eventually answer.
