[SIPForum-discussion] Loose routing over strict routing

I would say when it comes to supplementary services like forwarding or simultaneous ringing(forking ) , these are handled by AS or Feature server which sits beyond outbound proxy of caller ..say for example X_CSCF entities in IMS and AS ..in case a strict router is there in between then it will be modifying the R_URI and that will be a problem for AS to trigger services ..R_URI should as global as possible..anyway since AS or FS are B2BUA in nature they will definitely modify the headers and send it back to proxy to relay..
roaming scenarios as Amit has put , has same explanation as above..mobility extension is a good example for that in voip and roaming implemented via core IMS as well..

Thanks in advance,

Amit,
In cal forwarding case the proxy has to put the destination UA's URI instead of the current Rquest URI.And in Forking scenarios the proxy has to go with the same Req URI.But in the strict routing case, the proxy has to replace the Req URI and put the route header value instead. This behaviour prevents the call forwarding and Forking cases in case of strict.
Except this reason is there any other reason in the above scenarios? If yes please let me know.

Thanks

Yes loose routing has lots of advantage over strict routing . As in

strict routing you are forcing a set of proxies . In loose routing you

have flexibility to deliver the request more efficiently . Also using

loose routing you can implement services like call forwarding ,

forking etc which is not possible with strict . also roaming scenario

is not possible in strict routing.
