Suppose INVITE is send without SDP, in this case SDP Offer will come in 200 or 180 and SDP Answer will in ACK. In this scenario, no charging can be done on 200 OK. So, always better to start charging on ACK

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Shibli,

When case 4 is over you will have your port open for data transfer , it means two party is connected so you must start charging from case 4 onwards and as soon as bye accepted i.e case 06 ,you should stop charging , because after accepting bye this party will close the socket at tcp level .

Subject: [SIPForum-discussion] SIP billing confusion

please consider this sip call flow:

A                                        B
01        INVITE
     ----------------------------------->
02       100 TRYING
    <------------------------------------
03       180 Ringing
    <------------------------------------
04       200OK With SDP
   <----------------------------------------
05       ACK
   ------------------------------------------>
06             BYE
   <------------------------------------------
07           200 OK
   ------------------------------------------->

Query:
1. Is there any rfc recommendation when to start bill and stop it, some says its start after 4 and stop at 06 some says its start after 5 and stop at 7?

2. is it ok if someone start bill after 05 and stop after 06?
