[SIPForum-discussion] CLIP in SIP

Hi,
Privacy header is used by client or intermediate servers of originating side so that terminating side servers should know about privacy service opted by originating user and they should take appropriate action to service same like removing PAI header or some other way.

            It's not compulsory in IMS actually and only come to picture in case of Identity restriction services.

Ok if let say in IMS network, SIP client will extract the CLIP from PAI . How about the privacy header? Is it compulsory in IMS?

Generally CLIP information in SIP is extracted from both "PAI" and "From" header.
In IMS network, this information is extracted from PAI and if no PAI is present same information can be retrieved from "From" header.
In Normal VoIP network, this information is extracted from "From" header.
