[SIPForum-discussion] Scenario of SIP

Vijay,
In our gateways, we are using two way early media for some typical
applications.
Caller actually wants to dial some external number (viz PSTN, GSM etc), so
caller is first played dial tone during early media. In result, caller can
dial the desired number (DTMF) in Inband to be out dialed.
Best Regards,

Subject: Re: [SIPForum-discussion] Scenario of SIP
Hello Sir,
But according to RFC3261, Early media is just Half duplex and only be
generated by called party and after the 183 and before 200. Is it possible,
two early media in one session because I have heard caller tune after
IVR""While your call is being connected please listen the music".?
Please advice me.
Regards

Vijay,
Yes in sip scenario we call them early media. Normally early media refers to
media (e.g., audio and video) that is exchanged
before a particular session is accepted by the called user. Within a dialog,
early media occurs from the moment the initial INVITE is sent until the User
Agent Server (UAS) generates a final response. It may be unidirectional or
bidirectional, and can be generated by the caller, the callee, or both.
Typical examples of early media generated by the callee are ringing tone and
announcements (e.g.,
queuing status). Early media generated by the caller typically consists of
voice commands or dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) tones to drive
interactive voice response (IVR) systems.

Hi All,
These days we are using a function in our mobiles like Verizon mobile and
that is a IVR"While your call is being connected please listen the music".
So my question is what is this type of media? Is it early media or some
thing else? and if it is early media then how can it be before the session
establishment, I mean to say before 183(session progress)?
Please help me to understand this Scenario.
Thanks and Regards
Vijay Pal
