[SIPForum-discussion] Doubt on case sensetivity of SIP Version

Hello Vicky and forum members,

I don't think it is contradictory, it is basically stating that the SIP
version string should be interpreted as a case sensitive string, thus
"SIP/2.0" is not the same as "Sip/2.0"; it goes on to state that in
every case we should use the "SIP/2.0" form.

So it is an example of where a protocol may have various values but the
designers have selected one to prevent ambiguity.

However practically it does beg the question of coding defensively
(raise an exception for Sip/2.0) or acceptingly (Sip/2.0 = SIP/2.0).

Best regards

Subject: [SIPForum-discussion] Doubt on case sensetivity of SIP Version

As per RFC 3261 Section 7.1 on definition of SIP Version it states
that "The SIP-Version string is case-insensitive, but implementations
MUST send upper-case."
The seems to be quite contradicting statement in itself and please
clarify what should be case?

Regards,
-Vicky
