REGISTER terminates at the Registrar/SIP Server entity, in this case UAC is the user registering and UAS is Registrar.

When making a call calling I assume that you must be referring UAC to the caller and UAS to the callee. Obviously callee does not have any information about the registration period of caller, so it cannot possible judge that caller’s register timer has expired and thus to disconnect call. What can happen is that SIP proxy in between the call has knowledge of Registration timeout of caller and as well as the ongoing call. In the absence of a Registration refresh proxy can very well assume that caller may have gone dead and it disconnects the call by sending BYE to caller and callee.

 

UA must honour the ritual of Re-Registrations, be in a call or not.

The UAS is aware of USC' register expires that the reason why the call is disconnected. The UAS knows that the UAC must send a REGISTER after few minutes (this time is defined in the expire information of 200 OK), but the UAC isn't sending this because the call is established.

 

Our doubt is: the UAC must send the REGISTER message while the call is established or the UAC can send the REGISTER only after the end of the call.
