Rajesh,
Here comes two scenarios
1: Dialog
2: Transaction.
See, to diffrentiate the transactions we need branch field and to differentate the calls/dialog we need tag field.
So SIP proxies while forking they will send with different branch parameter. so that we can identify the transactions very easily.
Tag matters to identify that the whether tha responses belong to same call/dialog.
For dialog we need to tag, from tag and call id.
For this forking no need to bother about tag field, only we can check for different branch.
NOTE: As per 2543 rfc from tag and branch are also optional.
Thanks,
Sharanagoud.

Hi ,
I have a doubt regarding branch and tag field.
tag is basically with to and from field.
branch is basically with via field.
Proxy recvs a request from UAC.
Proxy forks the request and add brach parameter to differentiate different response coming from UAS.
and same response gets transferred back to UAC.
In this complete scenario where the tag field will come into picture.
Please correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks and Regards

Hi Rajesh,
If there is no ip address in from field also, error response will reach the client.
bcz always responses depends on the "Via" field. So 400 error response will be the
answer.
Thanks,
Sharanagoud.
