 re-INVITEs are still important ..
 Some reasons below:

1. http://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/sipping/current/msg11481.html
Please check out this email exchange.

A.B. Nataraju has explained that re-INVITE still has an upper hand over
UPDATE as it ensures that the offer-answer is completed with its
three-way handshake
This reasoning sounds good to me too.

2. http://130.230.52.14/list-archive/sip/msg03708.html
re-INVITEs are still needed. In 3pcc scenarios it is often needed to
send an empty re-INVITE in order to get an offer in the response.

Please direct us to the website where this debate is on ? Were there any
responses to Thomas's mail below.?

Thanks,
Best Regards,
Rekha

Subject: [SIPForum-discussion] re-invite versus update

Hi,

Is re-invite dead?

I still see it but I am in a class and says that everyone uses UPDATE.

Cheers,
