Syed,

 

Differences between Call stateful, Dialog Stateful and Transaction
Stateful ?

 

- Transaction stateful would create transactions (not dialogs). The
advantages are that you could detect errors in routing better. You can
handle call forking at the proxy.

 

- Dialog stateful would create transactions and Dialogs. It is a Back to
Back User Agent (B2BUA).

- a dialog stateful proxy will maintain dialog state, which consists
primarily of callid, cseq, local 
        and remote targets (contacts), and route set.
 
- A call stateful proxy, in addition to being dialog stateful, will
maintain call state, which will be   
   details about offer/answer status and current media streams.
 

( rfc 3261 Defination : Call Stateful: A proxy is call stateful if it
retains state for a dialog from the initiating INVITE to the terminating
BYE request.  

                                A call stateful proxy is always
transaction stateful, but the converse is not necessarily true.)

( rfc 3261 Defination : Stateful Proxy: A logical entity that maintains
the client and server transaction state machines defined by this
specification 

                               during the processing of a request, also
known as a transaction stateful proxy. The behavior of a stateful proxy
is further 

                               defined in Section 16. A (transaction)
stateful proxy is not the same as a call stateful proxy.)
