Re: [SIPForum-discussion] SIP HelpThen what is the difference between >From and Contact?
Both denote the same "sender"?

To and Contact is entirely different

To header is logical address of *receiver*.
Contact header is real address of *sender* who send the SIP message.

    Hi,

If To header field denotes the destination address then please explain me the difference of To header field and Contact header field.

    Regards,
    Avishek

To header is always the final destination in a point to point call.

But, Request URI may or may not change with each hop depending on the routing used.(loose routing or strict routing.

If loose routing is used , then Request URI is same as the value of 'To'
If strict routing is used, Request URI changes with each hop.

Please refer to rfc 3261 for more details.

      Hope this is clear.

      Regards,
      Murgesh

Can anybody explain the difference between the usages of the To Header
and the Request-URI in the start line? They both specify the destination
of the invite message, but which is used to the real routing purpose?
And how the rest is used?

      Thanks,
      ALEX

      RFC 3665 would be sufficient.
