[SIPForum-discussion] Transferring large MIME attachments within the SIP MESSAGE request.

Hi,

Looks like the MSRP is really the best option for now.

The Content Indirection mechanism in SIP messaging, the one that Eric
suggested, really offers the easy solution; however, it does require both
SIP clients to be able to communicate directly through TCP, which is not
always possible when NATs are involved.

So I will most likely go with the MSRP.

The only thing I couldn't understand with the MSRP is, why the authors
decided to come up with a new method rather than simply extending the
existing SIP MESSAGE method with the additional headers, such as the
Byte-Range header.

I would prefer using the existing SIP proxy connection for sending big
messages, rather than opening new connections to other clients which will
eventually consume the RTP media gateway resources.

Thanks again for your kind help,

Best regards,

-Onur
