Actually, KPML is the way to transport digits in the signaling (SIP)
plane.

INFO method is used for various mid-call communication and also for
SIP-T (i.e. ISUP transparency).

It has been used for, but is not recommended, DTMF communication. RFC
2833 is the recommendation for that.

Further to this, and proprietary messages, services, etc. use INFO
method as well. This sounds like what you want to do here.

Subject: [SIPForum-discussion] INFO method

Hi all,

I am curious about usage of INFO method. Actually, I need advice. I
haven't noticed any practical solution that uses this method yet. Like
it's not popular method for using today. Maybe I am wrong, but I have
feeling that MESSAGE within dialog could do the same job; exchange
signaling information among parties.

My intention is to send some additional signaling information important
for upper application immediately after SIP dialog (with INVITE) has
been opened. Questions are: What should I use? What is the preferable
method today for such things? Is there some RFC that obsolete RFC 2976
(INFO)?

Regards,
Darko
